Audrey Plant was a machinist at Elliston's Raincoat Factory in Coronation Street in the early 1960s. She worked on a bench next to Christine Hardman and questioned her about her date with Dennis Tanner the previous night when they went to the Luxy Cinema where he made no move on her but asked her if he could borrow her house to practice his guitar in.
On 11th June 1962, she was at work when a depressed Christine took to the roof of the factory and thought about jumping off. When the factory girls left their workstations, Audrey tried to stop Sheila Birtles from panicking at her friend's actions.
