Arthur Kelly (born 27th August 1940 in Salford) appeared on Coronation Street intermittently between September 1975 and September 1982 as Monkey Gibbons, a former inmate at Walton Jail and friend of Eddie Yeats.

He also appeared as Mr Maguire in the Coronation Street spin-off The Brothers McGregor in the episode entitled Declan is Very Big, transmitted in August 1988.

His other credits include roles in Leave It to Charlie, Angels, The Chinese Detective, Brookside, Studio, Bergerac, The Fourth Floor, The Bill, Albion Market, Gentlemen and Players, Pie in the Sky and Jake's Progress. On film, he was seen in Magical Mystery Tour, Little Dorrit and Calendar Girls.

On stage, he appeared in productions of The Old Tune along with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Antigone and What the Butler Saw for the Tyneside Theatre Company.

He was a close childhood and teenage friend of The Beatles' lead guitarist, George Harrison. They were both members of the short-lived band The Rebels with George's brother, Pete.
