Andrew Mayer was a storyliner for 32 episodes of Coronation Street transmitted between April and August 1968.
He joined Granada Television in 1966 after graduating in English Literature at Cambridge University where he was President of the Cambridge Footlights Club. In 1968 he was a writer on Nice Time for the Granada, which was edited by the future Lord Birt and featured Sandra Gough in between her 1968 and 1970 stints on the Street. From 1972 to 1973 he was the producer of the teen magazine programme OK before moving to London Weekend Television in 1975. There he worked as a current affairs producer on The London Weekend Show, 6 O'Clock Show, South of Watford, Without Walls and the long-running series The London Programme. He left the company in 1989 and for the remainder of his career was a freelance programme maker and writer.
