Andrew was a gardener who Claire Peacock met at the Red Rec in August 2005. Claire had previously expressed interest in restoring the communal gardens and when Andrew said that he needed to find more people to help out, she decided to join him.
Similar to Brian, a taxi customer she had spoken to earlier in the day, Andrew expressed a desire to clean up the garden to make it a place where children could play. Having spent time working as the nanny of Joshua Peacock, Claire was inspired by Andrew and set out to find volunteers to help him.
Claire met Andrew in the Rovers a few days later to tell him that Emily Bishop had agreed to volunteer with the gardens. Andrew questioned her strength and pointed out a bandage on her leg. Claire reassured him that she was very keen but admitted to him that nobody seemed interested in helping out.
While at the Rovers, Andrew left an impression on the factory girls at Underworld, particularly Fiz Brown, Janice Battersby and Jessie Jackson who were all attracted to him. Janice and Joanne agreed to join him at the garden in the hope of getting to know him better.
Janice, Jessie and Joanne Jackson arrived at the Red Rec but were disappointed to see that Andrew had not arrived to help out. Unfortunately for the girls they were unaware that he was gay and that Sean Tully had spent the day with him instead. Annoyed with Andrew and Sean, the girls threw mud at the two of them.
