Amy Kelly is an actress who has played homeless girl Maddie Heath on Coronation Street since December 2013. Amy's first few months in the programme were filmed during her final period studying A-levels for art, photography and theatre studies at the Manchester School of Acting and studying for these had to be accommodated within the filming schedules. Many viewers have complained about the boring story line and her torturous acting, and her contract may not be renewed after that. Dozens of harsh comments such as "Corrie needs to get rid of Sophie Webster let alone Maddie (...) Awful characters and dreadful actresses" were posted on Digital Spy's website in April and May 2014.
