- Union leader Joe Stark in August 1976
- Frank Woodhouse, a coin dealer, in November 1980
- Jack Croston, a relative of Sally Webster, in January 1989
- Retiring Sunliners Travel Agency manager Harry Slater in April 1996
- Solicitor Mr. Irwin, representing Alf Roberts in January 1999.
His other credits include roles in Z Cars, Crossroads, Crown Court, Brookside, Emmerdale, All Creatures Great and Small, Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, Heartbeat and an uncredited part in the 2003 film Between Two Women.
On stage, he appeared in productions of The Rose Without a Thorn, Lady Windermere's Fan, The Boy Friend, Nap Hand, The Amorous Prawn, Photo Finish, Murder at the Vicarage, Hindle Wakes, Someone Waiting, The Knight of the Burning Pestle, Tamburlaine, Brigadoon, Pygmalion, The Hotel in Amsterdam, Ring Round the Moon, Sweeney Todd, The Alchemist, Julius Caesar and The Dybbuk.
He is married to actress Dinah Handley, who appeared on Coronation Street alongside him in January 1989, portraying his character's wife, Bertha Croston.
