Coronation Street history[]
- 1902 - Albert Street is renamed Coronation Street in honour of the day's event, the coronation of King Edward VII. Families move into the new houses, including Percy, Aggie and Daniel Grimshaw at No.1; Samuel and Dolly Hewitt at No.3; children George, Thomas, Flo and Betsy with Jack and Maggie Leeming at No.5; widower Ernest Popplewell and his son Harry, Harry’s wife Clara and their children Emily and Herbert at No.7; Albert, Pearl, Jack and Ronnie Crapper at No.9; and Alfred and Ivy Makepiece with children Vi, Frank, Ralph, Mary and Lil. Only No.13 remains unoccupied.
- 1972 - The residents set up a vigilante committee against the Peeping Tom who has been plaguing the area and catch their suspect - Stan Ogden.
- 1982 - S & T Garage opens for business.
- 1989 - Having gathered her evidence, Emily Bishop confronts Mike Baldwin over his secret plans to sell the factory.
- 1991 - Despite her reservations, Emily Bishop agrees to let Percy Sugden move back to No.3 as her lodger.
- 1993 - Ken Barlow starts to give Raquel Wolstenhulme somewhat unsuccessful French lessons.
- 1995 - Steve McDonald marries Vicky Arden in St. Lucia.
- 1996 - Tommy Mook dies from a heart attack.
- 1998 - A horrified Mike Baldwin discovers that Hayley Patterson used to be a man.
- 1999 - Jack Duckworth, suffering a major heart attack, is rushed to hospital where the doctors decide to operate on him.
- 2002 - Fiz Brown moves into the salon flat.
- 2013 - Mandy Kamara parts with Lloyd Mullaney on friendly terms and she moves to Wythenshawe.
- 2019 - Gary Windass sets up a crooked deal whereby he will become the new owner of Underworld using stolen money.
