1965: Elsie puts on a show for Wormold only to find out he's no longer her landlord

42 King Edward Road was the address in the high-class Ellesmere Park of Alfred Wormold, landlord of the houses in Coronation Street.

Alfred's brother Edward also used the house to conduct business on his brother's behalf, such as in 1965 while Alfred was in Majorca. In January of that year, Ena Sharples paid a visit following an invite from Wormold whereupon he informed her that Mrs. Briggs, owner of 11 Coronation Street, had passed away and left her the house in her will. Two days later, Elsie Tanner went over to present Wormold with a list of repairs she wanted doing to No.11, only to be told that he wasn't her landlord any longer.

The house itself was big, with a spacious living room in which Wormold kept a box of cigarettes to offer to visitors. When listening to Wormold's complaints about how being a landlord was a losing battle, Ena caustically remarked that she wouldn't mind losing a few battles herself if this was the result.

Wormold's address was given in dialogue in Episode 238 (25th March 1963).
