- 1938 - Frank Barlow marries Ida Leathers.
- 1961 - Ken Barlow confesses to his father, Frank, that he's having an affair with Marian Lund, a woman eleven years his senior.
- 1989 - Nicky Tilsley goes missing after attacking his mum Gail. Nicky has been taking his dad Brian Tilsley's death hard.
- 2000 - Steve McDonald and Vikram Desai's new taxi firm Street Cars opens for business in Victoria Street.
- 2011 - Steve McDonald and Tracy Barlow take their daughter Amy to Blackpool for the day. Steve has to lie about his whereabouts to his wife Becky.
- 2015 - Erica Holroyd returns from Preston and tells Nick Tilsley she is pregnant with his baby.

- 1996 - Final appearance of Phyllis Pearce.
- 2005 - Sir Ian McKellen makes his first appearance in the guest role of conman Lionel Hipkis, aka Mel Hutchwright.
- 2013 - William Roache is charged with the rape of a fifteen-year old girl in 1967. He is immediately suspended from the programme and, after a trial on that and six other charges, is found not guilty on 6th February 2014.
- 2024 - Denny Foreman, the father of Gemma Winter-Brown and Paul Foreman makes contact with his family after many years estrangement.
