- Jim and Nellie Corbishley move to Little Hayfield after being unable to cope with the death of their son Charlie. They give up the tenancy of the Rovers Return Inn, which is soon taken by Police sergeant George Diggins and wife Mary.
- Madge Low dies three days after her baby is stillborn.
- With the war over, Albert Tatlock, Dinky Low and Thomas Hewitt return from the trenches. Dinky moves out of 1 Coronation Street.
- Harry Popplewell drowns after falling overboard while returning from the trenches.
- The surviving members of the Popplewell family, Clara and Herbert, vacate 7 Coronation Street.
- 7th April - Les Clegg is born.
- December - Joe and Kelly Buck emigrate to Canada with their son Jim.
- December - Influenza kills Emma Piggott.
- 24th December - Ena Schofield has her first ever alcohol drink in the Rovers with friend Lizzie Hinchcliffe.
