- Susie Makepiece is born.
- Betsy Hewitt, Percy Grimshaw, William Tatlock and Emmeline Tatlock die from TB.
- 13th February - George Hewitt is the latest victim of the TB epidemic.
- 22nd February - Samuel Hewitt marries Gertie Pegg, the younger sister of his dead wife Dolly. Gertie has been a comfort to him following the deaths of his wife and two children.
- 15th October - The Weatherfield Pit Disaster buries thirty-seven mine workers alive at the Weatherfield Main mine, the biggest disaster to ever strike the town. Coronation Street residents Albert and Jack Crapper and Daniel Grimshaw are among the fatalities.
