8th August - Building work on the new houses in Albert Street, Weatherfield is completed.
9th August - Albert Street is renamed Coronation Street in honour of the day's national event, the coronation of King Edward VII. Families move into the new houses, including Percy, Aggie and Daniel Grimshaw at No.1, Samuel and Dolly Hewitt at No.3 with children George, Thomas, Flo and Betsy, Jack and Maggie Leeming at No.5, widower Ernest Popplewell and his son Harry, Harry's wife Clara and Harry and Clara's children Emily and Herbert at No.7, Albert, Pearl, Jack and Ronnie Crapper at No.9, and Alfred and Ivy Makepiece at No.11 with children Vi, Frank, Ralph, Mary and Lil Makepiece. Only No.13 remains unoccupied.
16th August - The Rover's Return pub opens its doors for the first time. Local landowners Charles Hardcastle and Mabel Grimshaw pull the first pints. Jim and Nellie Corbishley are the pub's first landlords.
17th August - Twins Lizzie and Enid Harrison move into No.13, the final residents to move into the new Street.
November - Construction of the Glad Tidings Mission Hall is completed.
December - The Harrison twins are killed in a train crash.
December - Fred, Emma, Victor and Robert Piggott move into No.13.
Lay preacher Cedric Thwaite takes over the Corner Shop.
24th December - Services begin at the Glad Tidings Hall. Gladys Arkwright moves into the vestry as caretaker.
