- 1966 - Annie Walker and Len Fairclough both announce that they are standing for the council in the forthcoming elections.
- 1977 - Mavis Riley's domineering Auntie Edie dies in her bed while Mavis is at work.
- 1987 - The regulars at the Rovers are stunned when Alec Gilroy and Bet Lynch return from Spain and announced their engagement.
- 1990 - Peter Ingram dies of a heart attack.
- 1992 - Encouraged by the hint of a promotion dropped by Bettabuy area manager Brendan Scott, Curly Watts proposes to Kimberley Taylor.
- 2005 - Thinking her marriage to Jack is over, Vera Duckworth leaves for Southport.
